Rebel Art Gallery Hastings

		Rebel Gallery is an independent art gallery in Hastings Old Town exhibiting the work of artist and photographer Jon Wilhelm (Huldrick) and Suzanne Powell. The gallery is located in George Street in the heart of the creative quarter of Hastings Old Town.
		The gallery opened as "The Huldick Studio & Gallery" in 2004 as an exhibition space for Jon's highly successful range of limited edition prints of Hastings and the South of England.		The gallery changed it's name in 2011 to Rebel Gallery and now exhibits many original paintings in oil, acrylic and watercolour by Jon and Suzanne. It also provides visitors with an opportunity to meet and purchase work directly from the artists.

SeaEscape Five

Number Five in Jon Wilhelm's SeaEscape series of studies of the movement of waves across sand at low tide based on observations made on his walks to the studio along Hastings beach.

Jon decided to call this series of seascape paintings SeaEscapes because of their calming quality. Gazing into one of these paintings transports you can almost feel and hear the movement of the water!

This painting measures 40" x 50" overall and is currently on display in the gallery. It is the first in the SeaEscape series to be executed in oil. Jon usually works in acrylic but has recently rediscovered a his love for the subtlety of working in oil.

Dramatic photograph of the beach at Perranporth, North Cornwall taken after a day of rain and wind. The rain finally stopped and the wind subsided. I gathered the camera and set off across the cliff to the beach. The orange Hi-Vis jacket of the walker gives a nice highlight to the greys and blues of the sky.

Limited edition prints of Hastings and Rye

We have a large range of limited edition print taken from the original watercolour paintings of Hastings and Rye by Jon Wilhelm.

The prints are made on Bockingford watercolour paper - the same as used by the artist for the originals - giving the closest possible reproduction. These collectable limited edition prints are supplied in an ivory mount and are hand titled, numbered and signed by the artist.
